Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway has called for alternative funding options for Madison’s Public Market, sparking concern from the Public Market Foundation Board that fundraising is at risk without the city’s support of the project, according to a story from the Wisconsin State Journal.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the city is estimating a $25 million budget gap, prompting it to look at alternative solutions to move the project forward. The Public Market plans call for the year-round market to be located on the corner currently occupied by Madison’s Fleet Services building.
