What are the most challenging and rewarding aspects of your job and why?

The most challenging aspect of my job is there is no “right” answer to managing money. Even with all the information in the world, there are so many factors that influence financial markets that makes it impossible to win every time. The most rewarding aspect of my job is the people I work with daily. My colleagues bring different perspectives and experiences that allow us as a team to determine the proper action for our clients.

Who do you look up to or admire in business and why?

I admire leaders who take their time to support those with less experience and help them realize their potential. It can be daunting being new to an industry, office, team, etc. I appreciate the leaders who invested in and advocated for me, allowing me to speak up and be confident in my decisions.

What has been the high point of your career so far?

Returning to Madison and joining the Norman Fletchall team. This was a full circle move for me. I’ve worked at RBC Wealth Management my entire career, starting in Madison right out of college. After a few years, I decided I wanted to move to Minneapolis, where the firm’s U.S. headquarters is located, to get experience in a different area of the business. After about 10 years and multiple different roles in different areas of the firm, I moved back to Madison and had the opportunity to join the team I’m on now. I am back where I started but in a new role and with a whole new set of experiences and skills to contribute to the team and our clients.

What are your guilty pleasures?

More of just a pleasure than guilty pleasure is my passion for dog rescue. I worked closely with an organization, Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue, while I lived in Minneapolis, fostering dogs, mentoring people who took in foster dogs, and helping with the intake process to bring the animals into rescue. Since moving back to Madison, I’ve started volunteering for the Dane County Humane Society where I spend my Saturdays helping to counsel potential adopters and help determine if a specific dog is a good fit for their home and lifestyle.
