What are the most challenging and rewarding aspects of your job?
One of the most challenging aspects of my job is balancing precision with people. Working in finance requires accuracy, discipline and strong risk awareness, but it also requires understanding the real human impact behind decisions. Navigating that balance, especially in moments of change or uncertainty, can be demanding, but it is also where meaningful leadership shows up. The most rewarding part of my work is seeing how thoughtful decision-making and inclusive leadership positively affect individuals and teams.
Who do you look up to or admire in business and why?
The people I admire most are my parents. My mother is a health professional and business owner, and my father is an emeritus professor whose career has shaped generations of students. Both left their home country in search of opportunity, bringing with them a strong sense of purpose and identity. While they found ways to navigate and succeed within American systems, they never lost sight of their Nigerian roots.
What has been the high point of your career so far?
One of the high points of my career has been the opportunity to grow and evolve within my organization both locally and globally. That progression has allowed me to expand beyond my primary role and contribute in meaningful ways to culture, engagement and leadership development. Most meaningful, however, has been mentoring colleagues and helping create spaces where people feel supported, seen and encouraged to grow.
What are the best things about living and working in Dane County?
What I value most are the increasing number of individuals and organizations committed to development, community engagement and expanding access to opportunity. Dane County has a strong ecosystem of nonprofits, educational institutions and businesses that encourage people to contribute beyond their job titles.
What are your guilty pleasures?
One of my guilty pleasures is carving out solo time to recharge, especially going to the movies alone. There is something grounding about turning my phone off, grabbing popcorn and fully immersing myself in a story without distractions. It is one of the few moments where I allow myself to slow down completely and enjoy being present.
