What have you accomplished in your professional life/career since your 40 Under 40 selection?
Since being part of the 40 Under 40, I have changed companies. I am now the CFO at a fantastic culture-driven real estate company, North Central Group (NCG). NCG has a focus in the hospitality market working with wonderful brands like Hilton and Marriott. I have the honor of overseeing great teams in accounting, finance, and technology. My skill set and position provides an opportunity for me to get involved in all aspects of NCG from development to operations, employee benefits to technology planning, and strategic planning to family office administration.
What accomplishments, milestones, or endeavors have you attained in your personal life since your 40 Under 40 selection?
I have been married to a beautiful woman for over 20 years and together we are raising four wonderful children. Family and faith are our focus and we love to play sports, watch sports, travel, laugh, and enjoy time together.
If you were to “do it all over again,” what (if anything) would you do differently throughout your career?
If I were to do things over, I would go back and expand my horizons sooner. I would have gotten involved in areas outside of accounting earlier in college and in my earlier jobs. I look at the opportunities young adults have today with combining majors, travel, and internships and would like to go back and do it again — but more of it!
How did your 40 Under 40 selection help your career?
Early on the 40 Under 40 provided networking opportunities for me. I was able to forge some new business relationships that have continued over the years.
What is something that you have a new passion for since the time of your induction — either professionally or personally?
Personally, my passion for my family has grown (as has my family). I never knew how much love a heart could hold until I had my family. My faith has also become more of a passion — knowing who and what is most important.
Professionally, my passion for people and strategy has grown. I love to simplify the complex, ask great questions that can lead to new discoveries, and to help my team.
Based on your experience, do you have any advice for today’s young professionals (under 40)?
My advice for young professionals would be to be the best version of yourself. Know what you want and work hard for it, go above and beyond, and be willing to prove yourself before getting the promotion. So many people want the promotion and then they will expand their role; expand your role and earn the promotion. And care about people professionally and personally.
