What are the most challenging and rewarding aspects of your job and why?

The most challenging aspect of my job is its fast pace and the ever-changing nature of the industry — the ways to reach people are evolving at a rate we haven’t seen before and that is exciting and challenging all at the same time. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing actual results and successes for my clients. I love being able to give a client concrete examples of how our media strategy pushed their brand forward, whether it’s by getting leads, increasing sales, or driving awareness.

Who do you look up to or admire in business and why?

I had the pleasure of working closely with Kristy Badger, VP/group account director at Periscope. I learned a lot from her ability to guide clients’ strategic thinking, but I also respect her ability to kick ass and take names at work without sacrificing a vibrant life outside the office.

What has been the high point of your career so far?

One of my clients sent me a handwritten note to personally thank me for my work on her brand. It’s not the flashiest high point, but the acknowledgement of my impact on a client’s business was truly meaningful and is exactly why I show up at work every day.

Thinking back on your career, what advice would you give your 21-year-old self?

Don’t worry about having all the answers, but be confident in what you do know and dig in to find the answers to what you don’t.

What would you say are the best things about living and working in Dane County?

I originally fell in love with Madison and Dane County as a student at UW–Madison and came to realize they have even more to offer beyond the university when I returned later in my career. My favorite thing about building a life and career here is I am never bored. I’m surrounded by smart people who challenge me professionally and intellectually, and I can also find a great restaurant or park to check out on the weekends.

Do you have any secret talents or abilities that people would be surprised to discover?

I know all the words to Meatloaf’s “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” and I’m not afraid to use that knowledge in a karaoke bar.

What are your guilty pleasures?

With a new baby at home, my primary guilty pleasure is sleep!  If I am caught up on sleep, I like to dig into a good book or school my husband in mini golf. I won’t set foot on a traditional course, but I’ll take you down at Vitense Golfland.
