What are the most challenging and rewarding aspects of your job and why?
Strange to say but figuring out where to focus. When you run a small marketing agency, there are hundreds of things attracting your attention. In general, I’m best at marketing my own business and showing other people how to market theirs.
Who do you look up to or admire in business and why?
Zach Stuck from Homestead up in Appleton. His agency growth and client results have been incredible.
What has been the high point of your career so far?
Making my first big sale my first year in business. It was equal to my starting salary at Epic previously. I knew I’d never have to work for anyone else again.
Thinking back on your career, what advice would you give your 21-year-old self?
Start learning how to be useful, then dive into entrepreneurship, sales, marketing, and investing immediately.
What would you say are the best things about living and working in Dane County?
I love the marketing community here. I’ve always been blown away by how friendly and collaborative everyone is, including competitors.
Do you have any secret talents or abilities that people would be surprised to discover?
Freestyle footbag, also known as hacky sack. (It’s a real thing; look it up.) I actually competed doing tricks at tournaments in high school.
What are your guilty pleasures?
The one I can’t explain is watching local newscaster bloopers on YouTube.
