After more than a year, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is opening playgrounds, observation towers, and widening groups allowed at state parks, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The changes by the DNR will go into effect on April 30 at parks, trails, and other natural areas. Loosened restrictions include:

  • Observation towers and playgrounds will be open;
  • Capacity for shelters, amphitheaters, and campgrounds will be increased to 100 people;
  • Capacity for special events will increase to 100;
  • Stand-alone concession facilities will open to the public at 50% capacity, including staff; and
  • Volunteer group sizes will be increased to 50 people.

Capacity limits imposed last year to ensure social distancing and face-covering requirements inside buildings will remain in place.
