Nonprofit Art House 360 is set to open in downtown Verona on Aug. 14, Madison365 reports. The multidisciplinary, multicultural community arts space, housed in a former school downtown, will also host its second annual Dancing with the Arts fundraiser on Aug. 15.
Art House 360 was founded by theater artist Jessica Lanius of Theatre LILA, visual artist and scenographer Monica Cliff of Inventiva Works, dancer AJ Juarez of Barrio Dance and Karissa Johnson of Slate Blue Studios.
The organization’s new home features six interior rental units, with space for the four founding organizations, arts and crafts educator Verona Maker Space and music studio Loud & Proud Studios.
The city provided $750,000 in tax increment financing to help cover building renovations, and the project also received $250,000 in ARPA funding from Dane County, as well as a matching grant from WEDC.
Art House 360’s total campaign goal is $3 million, and the nonprofit is most of the way there. The city is also renting the building to the organization for $1 per year.
