An appeals court decision has halted an earlier decision to extend the deadline for Wisconsin absentee ballots, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.

The ruling on Sept. 21 by U.S. District Judge William Conley decided that ballots that arrive up to six days after Election Day will count as long as they’re postmarked by Election Day. The action by the appeals court puts the Sept. 21 decision on hold until the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals or U.S. Supreme Court issues any further action. As the order stands, ballots will now be due by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
