Middleton-based Zurex Pharma, Inc. raised $6.2 million from an investor group led by Baird Venture Partners and the State of Wisconsin Investment Board.
Zurex develops products to help prevent infections from health care settings, and the money will allow the company to further study and work to prevent infections from central lines used to deliver fluids, and from surgical wounds. Since Medicare no longer pays hospitals for care that is required if health care-acquired infections occur, hospitals are racing to reduce the number of incidences.
Baird Venture Partners, meanwhile, will get two seats on Zurex’s board.
