Yumbutter, a Madison-based brand of Tribe 9 Foods, announced on its website that it intends to close soon and it announced a BOGO (buy one, get one) sale starting Nov. 25.

The business, located at 2901 Progress Road in Madison, left a message to customers that reads: “This may seem nutty, but we’re closing soon.” In announcing the closing and the BOGO sale, the site encourages customers to get their favorites before they are gone forever.

A brand of Tribe 9 Foods LLC, a specialty food company based in Madison, Yumbutter makes nut butter products from almonds, cashews, peanuts, and sunflowers, and sells them in pouches and jars.

CEO Brian Durst attributed the closing to falling short of the scale Yumbutter sought to achieve.

“After 15 years, we’ve made the difficult decision to sunset the Yumbutter brand at the end of this year,” Durst stated. “While Yumbutter will always have a special place in the hearts of so many of us at Tribe 9 Foods, we ultimately decided to cease production after not achieving the scale we had sought — despite having a loyal following and high-quality, well-loved product.

“As an organization, this decision allows us to focus all our resources on our Taste Republic and RP’s Pasta brands. Taste Republic, with its gluten-free, grain-free and vegan pastas, continues to grow nationwide, and we’re committed to driving this business.”
