Madison’s Young Blood Beer Co. will expand with a DeForest brewery and taproom, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The company, which got its start on King Street in May 2020, plans for the new spot to become its main hub.
Co-owner Billy DuPlanty previously owned Young Blood’s 112 King St. building but sold it, in part, to help fund the expansion. He and owners Kyle Gregorash and Joe Reinardy, the company’s head brewer and main investor, respectively, are now leasing the building from new owners.
They plan to open the DeForest location in late spring or early summer 2025. The project has an estimated price of $2.5 million–$3 million and will be located at 4181 Savannah Drive in the mixed-use DeForest Yards development. It will include between 5,000–6,000 square feet of space, have a 200-person capacity in the bar area, and offer most of the same food options as Young Blood’s other taprooms.
It will be Young Blood’s third taproom, and the owners plan to close the 7,000-square-foot Stoughton Road facility they renovated for roughly $300,000 in 2021, where all the beer is currently brewed. The company’s 10-barrel system will be moved to the new building, and the owners will look to build a larger production facility.
The owners plan to break ground on the DeForest taproom in December.
