The Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corp. (WWBIC) received a shot in the arm from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., which agreed to provide $100,000 toward the hiring of a new rural business specialist for WWBIC’s targeted microlending program. WWBIC is the state’s largest microloan (less than $50,000) lender, with most loans averaging around $25,000.
In 2012, the rural microlending program closed on 27 rural loans totaling $981,000.
