Radio station 98.7FM WVMO, The Voice of Monona, announced Tuesday that veteran broadcaster Rod Perry has been named a Local Broadcast Legend by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.

This recognition celebrates a career spanning more than 65 years, cementing Perry’s status as one of the most enduring voices in Wisconsin radio history.

During a 25-year tenure at WRCO in Richland Center, Perry ascended from announcer to program director and station manager. He provided play-by-play coverage for over 5,000 high school sporting events.

Three generations of the Perry family now share the airwaves on the Monona-based station.
