Madison-based WPS Health Insurance is leaving the individual policy market in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties, but the health insurer will continue to offer its narrow-network Arise Health Plan on the Affordable Care Act exchange.

WPS informed customers about the change last week. It will take effect beginning Jan. 1, 2016.

The move eliminates one local choice for people who need individual policies and aren’t bothered by paying higher premiums for in-network prices at major health care providers in the two counties, according to the Milwaukee Business Journal. However, WPS and Arise will both continue to sell group plans in the Milwaukee area.
