The World Dairy Expo and Dane County announced an agreement on Thursday that will extend the event’s stay in Madison through 2028 with the option to extend through 2031, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
The agreement would also allow for expansion and more facilities, as the expo has maximized its current space on the county-owned grounds of the Alliant Energy Center. No specific expansion projects are included in the contract, but it sets the stage for possible improvements like increased exhibition space for vendors and more room in pavilions.
The seven-day expo is Dane County’s largest convention and creates an estimated $31 million in annual economic impact for the region, benefiting hotels, bars, restaurants, and retail shops.
Last year, the event drew over 2,600 cows from the U.S. and Canada, 55,000 people, and 650 vendors from around the globe.
