Janesville-based Woodman’s has lodged a complaint with the state’s Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection based on what company President Willard P. Woodman refers to as “ridiculous” prices at competitor chain Meijer.
According to the Milwaukee Business Journal, Woodman took issue with, among other things, the low price of bulk coffee at Meijer.
Others complaints against the Michigan grocery and retail giant have been made recently, as well, and the issue is gaining attention as the state considers what to do with it’s decades-old “minimum markup law.”
The state has reportedly warned Meijer about its pricing and is looking into other complaints.
