Woman charged with embezzling $311K from Madison company

Charges have been issued against Nichole Genz, 40, of Evansville alleging she embezzled more than $311,000 from Learning Gardens Child Development Center, a subsidiary of Madison-based Park Towne Development Corp., according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.

The charges state Genz, executive director of the center at the time, worked with an unnamed accounting manager at Park Towne from January 2014 to September 2018 to skim funds from the center. She is charged with conspiring to commit wire fraud and nine counts of wire fraud including depositing tuition checks and withdrawing funds in cash, altering checks, altering bank statements, creating false reconciliation statements, and misusing center debit and credit cards for personal use.

Each count could carry a 20-year sentence in federal prison.
