Wisconsin employers are predicting strong job creation in 2012, with 87% of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce member CEOs creating new jobs this year, according to a WMC survey. That’s up from last year, when 83% of those surveyed said they created new jobs.
WMC, the state’s largest business association, conducted the online survey from March 5-12. In all, WMC surveyed 1,142 top executives and 136 responded. Nearly 70% of those surveyed were in the manufacturing sector.
“The fact that we are seeing such strong job projections from a survey that is largely comprised of manufacturers is very good news for Wisconsin,” Kurt R. Bauer, president and CEO of WMC, said in a press release. “Manufacturing pays the best wages, offers the best benefits, and sustains our middle class quality of life in our state.”
Bauer said the state’s progress in “getting its fiscal house in order” is starting to pay dividends in job creation.
Last year, 94% of WMC members said the state is headed in the right direction.
The organization has endorsed Gov. Scott Walker in the state’s forthcoming recall election.
