The acquisition of WKOW-TV’s parent company, Quincy Media Inc., will mandate the sale of the local station based on Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.
Atlanta-based Gray Television, the owner of WMTV-15, purchased the Illinois-based media group for $925 million, pending regulatory approval. FCC law requires that Gray cannot own two full-power television stations in the same market and must divest ownership before the acquisition will be approved.
