The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will temporarily pause work on most highway construction projects around the state over Labor Day weekend; however, drivers are asked to pay attention and expect slower traffic in work zones and along major travel corridors.

According to AAA, peak travel times are expected Thursday, Aug. 29, from 1–7:30 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 30, from 2–6 p.m.; and Monday, Sept. 2, from 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Significant road construction projects and other conditions that may impact Labor Day weekend travel can be found here.

All Wisconsin rest areas are open. These facilities offer restrooms, amenities, and a break from travel.

Law enforcement agencies across Wisconsin are patrolling highways to enforce traffic safety laws. The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign runs through Labor Day to remind drivers not to drive while impaired.
