Wisconsin’s broadband infrastructure received a C-minus grade in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) infrastructure report card, highlighting the need for improvement as demands increase, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
While the current network meets basic needs, it requires significant upgrades to ensure statewide high-speed internet access by 2030. An estimated $2.2 billion is needed to expand broadband, but only $1 million in public funding is available.
Wisconsin’s overall infrastructure received a C-plus, an improvement from 2020. Notably, roads and energy saw higher grades, while wastewater infrastructure declined. Parks received the lowest grade, a D, due to reduced funding.
