WisconsinEye is once again watching what goes down in the state Capitol after going dark for nearly seven weeks due to a lack of funding, Wisconsin Public Radio reports.
On Monday, the state Legislature’s Joint Committee on Legislative Organization voted 10-0 to approve funding for the nonprofit public affairs network.
WisconsinEye’s website went back online on Monday, with its archives intact. It also livestreamed a press conference from the Capitol on Monday, and broadcast legislative activity on Tuesday.
The vote approved $50,000 to WisconsinEye for operations costs to resume broadcasting during February.
Both the Senate and Assembly will split the cost.
WisconsinEye has created a GoFundMe with the goal of raising $250,000, three months of its operating budget. As of Tuesday afternoon, the campaign had raised $56,213.
