A major milestone of the Sauk Prairie Wisconsin River Recreational Bridge at 1243 Water St., Sauk City, was completed last week with the installation of prefabricated steel truss sections on top of newly reinforced concrete piers, the Independent Star News reported.
The project will bridge the Great Sauk State Trail and the Walking Iron Trail: Dane County to the south, allowing travel for hikers, cyclists and snowmobilers.
The $5 million, 500-foot-long project will be open year-round and is built where a historic railroad crossing once existed over the Wisconsin River.
