After months of dismal news based on preliminary data from a monthly jobs survey, the Wisconsin manufacturing sector breathed a sigh of relief when another, more complete survey shows that state manufacturers added 8,800 jobs as of mid-year.
Far from indicating a slowdown, the data represented the third largest increase in factory jobs in the nation during the first six months of the year, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.
The latest data, from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, is based on the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, which is based on a much larger sample size than the other survey, which is known as the Current Employment Statistics or CES.
