On Friday, May 23, labor leaders from the Wisconsin AFL-CIO, South Central Federation of Labor (SCFL), IAFF Local 311, Teamsters Local 120, IBEW Local 159 and SEIU Wisconsin will join Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez and Meriter nurses ahead of their upcoming strike for a press conference. After months of bargaining, Meriter management has refused to move on key issues, SCFL said, impacting patient and nurse safety.
Friday’s event will highlight Wisconsin unions’ support of Meriter nurses through the strike, and ways for the community to engage. The event will take place on the Madison Labor Temple grounds, 1602 S. Park St., at 3 p.m. and include:
-
Sara Rodriguez, lieutenant governor of Wisconsin;
-
Stephanie Bloomingdale, president of Wisconsin AFL-CIO;
