Gov. Tony Evers on Tuesday announced that Wisconsin is joining a new lawsuit to stop the Trump Administration from attempting to cut over $225 million in federal funding the state expected to receive. The funding supports mental and behavioral health services, prevents and responds to substance misuse and the opioid epidemic, bolsters local public health, and strengthens local emergency medical services.
Evers’ announcement follows through on the governor’s promise last week to explore legal options against cuts to key investments for Wisconsin. These were previously approved by the U.S. Congress and designed to support public health infrastructure and health services in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to help respond to future public health crises and emergencies.
