The Dairy State was also the berry state as it led the nation in the number of cranberries harvested — and it wasn’t even close.
Wisconsin produced 4.8 million barrels of cranberries in 2025, followed by Massachusetts with 1.9 million, Oregon with 530,000 and New Jersey with 449,000.
The previous year, Wisconsin harvested over 6 million barrels of cranberries.
According to the Wisconsin State Cranberries Association, there were more than 250 growers across 19 counties and 21,000 acres of land.
Wisconsin’s harvest made up over 60% of the national cranberry crop for 2025. The cranberry is Wisconsin’s largest fruit crop.
The berries provide $1 billion annually in economic benefits and support over 4,000 jobs in the state.
Central and northern Wisconsin counties dominate the state’s cranberry production, with Wood County producing more than 1.38 million barrels last year or nearly a third of the state’s total for the year. Monroe County harvested about 990,000 barrels, Jackson County 766,000 barrels and Juneau County 630,000 barrels.
