People in Wisconsin who lack dental insurance or have inadequate coverage can now join the Dental Savings Club, launched by the Wisconsin Dental Association on July 1, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. By paying an annual fee of $48 for individuals or $108 for families, members receive discounts ranging from 15% to 55% on standard dental fees, as determined by Fair Health, a nonprofit that analyzes extensive patient billing data.

The Dental Savings Club covers a wide range of dental services, including cleanings, fillings, X-rays, crowns, dentures, and implants, provided by participating dentists. Currently, over 400 of the state’s 3,300 dentists are enrolled, with more expected to join.

The American Dental Association (ADA) reports that no similar programs exist in other states. Nationally, about 23% of adults aged 19 to 64 and 9% of children lack private or Medicaid dental insurance.

The Dental Savings Club, managed by Menomonee Falls-based Skygen, uses a mobile app to connect patients with dentists. Members can use the app to find dentists, schedule appointments, view fees upfront, and pay bills after treatment. There are no annual maximums or reimbursement paperwork.

The club is also available to employers and associations seeking to provide dental benefits to employees. The WDA hopes to extend the program to Medicare supplement plans as well.
