The 70,000-square-foot Wilderness Resort will be renovated beginning Aug. 24.
Its see-through roof will be replaced, and one of the two Dueling Mammoths raft rides will be removed for a new volcano-themed water slide named the Volcano Vortex, a five-person raft ride with turns and high-G spirals.
The remaining Dueling Mammoths ride will be renamed Paradise Falls.
The Mini Mammoth’s Cove kid’s zone will also get a fresh coat of paint with new slides and interactive play areas. It will feature a tropical theme and be renamed Coral Cove.
“We’ve made a lot of updates to our resort and other waterparks over the last decade and now it is time to give the WaterDome a refresh as well,” Joe Eck, chief operating officer for Wilderness Resorts and Waterparks, said in a statement.
The entire waterpark will receive a new floor and tropical paint theme. The waterpark’s food and beverage outlets will also be refreshed with new flooring, updated TVs and new furniture.
Wooly’s food area is also being refreshed and renamed Castaway Café.
The WaterDome is expected to re-open in mid-October.
