Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra announces ticket sales for 2023–24 Masterworks Season

The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra (WCO) recently announced that single tickets for the 2023–24 Masterworks Season, along with multiple individual performances, are now available for purchase online.

The 2023–24 Masterworks Season includes the following:

  • “Majestic Brahms” on Nov. 10 will feature award-winning guest pianist Maxim Lando making his debut in Capitol Theater. The season opens with an early “Symphony No. 13 in D” by Haydn, followed by “Love’s Labour’s Lost Suite” by Finzi, and closes with Brahms’ “Piano Concerto No. 2 in B flat major.”
  • “Norwegian Fantasy” on Jan. 26 will feature “Fantaisie Norvegienne” by Eduardo Lalo, played by Ukrainian guest violinist Vladyslava Luchenko. This work will be included between John Marsh’s “Symphony No. 6 in D” and Schubert’s “Symphony No. 5.”
  • “Goodyear Returns” on Feb. 16 will feature Canadian pianist Stewart Goodyear performing Mozart’s “Piano Concerto No. 27 in B flat”. The concert opens with Christopher Blake’s “Night Journey to Pawarenga”, and closes with Stravinsky’s “Pulcinella Suite.”
  • “Revelation” on March 22 will feature the world premier of “Symphony No. 14 Revelation” by WCO Composer in Residence Dr. Bill Banfield. Guest artists include the Madison Youth Choir and the Festival Choir of Madison along with a variety of soloists to be announced. Opening the concert is “Symphony No. 1 in G major op. 4.”
  • “Virtuoso Violin” on April 19 will feature French virtuoso violinist Gilles Apap, with Beethoven’s “Violin Concerto in D” and Vaughan Williams’ “The Lark Ascending.”

“Harmony in Black,” a performance celebrating the rich cultural heritage and visionary voices that have shaped the musical landscape, is set for Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Capitol Theater at Overture Center for the Arts. “Harmony in Black” is a live performance that will be recorded as part of the multi-year Musical Landscapes in Color project.

2023–24 Special Performances include “Messiah” on Dec. 8–9 at 7 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church on Wisconsin Avenue. Handel’s Messiah returns for its 14th year in partnership with the Festival Choir of Madison.
