Thanks to its 2012 acquisition of First Shares, the parent of First National Bank, Wisconsin Bank & Trust nearly tripled its earnings in the fourth quarter of 2013 compared to a year earlier. The bank reported net income of $1.8 million in the last quarter of 2013, up from $658,000 for the same period in 2012. Total assets declined year to year, from $692.7 million in 2012 to $643.3 million in 2013, but loans and leases were up from $446.2 million in 2012 to $459.6 million on Dec. 31, 2013. For all of 2013, the bank reported net income of $7.9 million, up from $6.3 million in 2012.
