As everyone in the Madison area is well aware, it was quite cold recently. So cold, over 10,700 flights were canceled in the U.S. on Sunday, according to flight-tracking website FlightAware.
A major winter storm spanned the southern Rocky Mountains to New England, according to the National Weather Service.
The Associated Press reports, as of Sunday morning, the storm is the highest experienced cancellation event since the COVID-19 pandemic.
FlightAware reported 16 flight cancellations at the Dane County Regional airport for the 24 hour period beginning Saturday at 2:30 p.m. through Sunday.
