Thanks to a bill signed Wednesday by Gov. Scott Walker, chambers of commerce across the state can now legally promote wine walk events being held by local retailers.
State revenue officials previously indicated the events were prohibited under existing law, but the new bill permits municipalities to issue temporary alcohol licenses that cover multiple locations in a single day.
Event like wine walks have become important fundraisers for business groups, and often retailers that usually don’t offer food or beverages serve wine and snacks to participants.
