Last August, a Fox Valley businessman, Curt Drumm, vowed to bring Wisconsin’s own Midwest Express Airlines back to the state. The airline, which for years was known for its two-by-two leather seats and chocolate chip cookies baked on board, was purchased by Republic Airlines in 2009 and merged into Frontier Airlines a year later.
The Milwaukee Business Journalreports that a private stock offering has been filed with the Security and Exchange Commission by a group of industry executives including Drumm, president of Manitowoc-based Lakeshore Aviation, who are beginning the process of bringing the airline back. They recently completed a $750,000 fundraising round and will start another one soon.
If they are successful, Midwest Express could be flying to Midwest destinations by 2020.
