Original plans for a hotel and a 10-story office building on Madison Area Technical College’s current downtown campus may change, according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal.

Drury Southwest, a Missouri-based hotel developer, is moving away from the office tower originally proposed when the company partnered with Hovde Properties on a plan to develop the block. Hovde dropped out of the project last winter, and now Drury is proposing a 315-room Drury Plaza Hotel that would include renovations to the MATC building (197 rooms) plus the addition of a new 8-story building (118 rooms).

MATC will be vacating its downtown campus at 211 N. Carroll Street in June 2019 to relocate to a south campus.
