The Wisconsin Indigenous Housing and Economic Development Corp.’s (WIHEDC) inaugural Conference kicked off in Bowler, Wisconsin on Nov. 7 and continues today. The conference works to foster collaboration among Indigenous entrepreneurs, tribal leadership, and economic development professionals.

In addition, the event will unveil the results of two studies focused on Indigenous housing and economic development in Wisconsin:

  • WIHEDC’s Economic Impact Study, which evaluates the significant contributions of tribal enterprises, Indigenous-led small businesses, and nonprofit organizations across Wisconsin; and

  • The Wisconsin Native Homeownership Coalition’s housing study, which addresses the unique needs and gaps in housing availability within Wisconsin’s Native communities.
