In an unanimous vote, the Madison Plan Commission approved the demolition of Westgate Mall near the corner of Tokay Boulevard and South Whitney Way on Madison’s west side, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.

Razing the mall clears the way for a major development by JT Klein Co. that includes housing, green spaces, and an office building. The project would include five buildings of housing with 464 multifamily units and a future phase for office, medical office, or clinic use.
