The Madison Plan Commission has voted to approve the demolition permit for the problematic building that has been home to Paisan’s restaurant, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The structure, at 131 W. Wilson St., has been the subject of debate and a tug of war to keep the building open and inspected or deemed unsafe and closed. Tearing down the building could take several months as the developer begins the 14-story housing and commercial space project that will replace the existing building. Executive Management, the co-owner of the building, has stated the building was “in danger of immediate collapse,” but city officials did not agree.
