The Associated Press reports the U.S. Food and Drug Administration greenlit weight loss drug Wegovy, the first daily oral medication to treat obesity.
The move gives drugmaker Novo Nordisk an edge over Eli Lilly, whose drug orforglipron is still being reviewed.
Both drugs work by controlling appetite and feelings of fullness by mimicking a natural hormone. They are currently available in injectable form.
The Wegovy pill is expected to be available in the coming weeks.
