Upon completion of the Urban League of Greater Madison’s Black Business Hub on Madison’s south side, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. (WEDC) will relocate to the hub from downtown Madison, according to a report from WisBusiness.com. WEDC says the plan is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to directly support small businesses, and embedding the offices in the Hub will help WEDC connect with traditionally underserved communities, including people of color, women, and LGBT individuals who may not have the same access to capital and technical expertise as others.
The Hub will be located at the corner of Park Street and Hughes Place and will include office space, retail storefronts, pop-up vending spaces, coworking space, and a shared commercial kitchen to serve as an enterprise center devoted to helping underserved entrepreneurs build their businesses.
