A $250,000 state grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. (WEDC) will give a boost to the redevelopment of the Westgate Mall site, according to a release from WEDC.
The city of Madison will receive the funds to support the demolition of the remaining portions of the 10-acre area to prepare the site for 232 units of market-rate housing, 71 units of affordable workforce housing, and 161 units of affordable senior housing. The development plan includes a variety of residential and commercial uses that will complement the existing Hy-Vee grocery store, including a proposed corner development for a large commercial or medical building.
