Madison-based Webcrafters Inc. has been sold to the CJK Group based in Brainerd, Minn.
Webcrafters is an educational book manufacturer with roots in Madison dating back to 1868. CJK Group is a holding company. Terms were undisclosed.
According to a story in The Capital Times, Webcrafters CEO Jac Garner calls the acquisition “a big step forward” in the company’s future.
The company had been downsizing in recent years, and in March, owner John Frautschi passed away. In June, the company reported nearly 300 workers.

Reportedly, the Webcrafters name and signage will remain after the deal closes on Nov. 1.
