The Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association (WCPA) is publicly supporting a Wisconsin state budget request by Representatives Dave Steffen and Ben Franklin for local law enforcement during the upcoming NFL Draft April 24-26.

The two legislators are seeking $1.25 million through the state budget process to be directed to the Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department ($75,000), Brown County Sheriff’s Department ($500,000), Green Bay Police Department ($475,000) and Green Bay Metro Fire Department ($200,000). It is estimated that these allocations will address approximately two-thirds of anticipated public safety expenses associated with the NFL Draft.

Roughly two-thirds of the economic impact of this event will be statewide. The NFL Draft is expected to garner more than $4.5 million for state government during the event.
