Waunakee Piggly Wiggly and the Gift of Games have expanded access to board games for Waunakee Community School District students.
A customer campaign fundraiser paid for over 100 board games that were donated to schools in the district, including Waunakee Community High, Waunakee Intermediate, Arboretum Elementary and Heritage Elementary schools.
Previously, Prairie Elementary and Waunakee Middle schools received board game donations.
The program aims to create more opportunities for students to connect face-to-face.
“One of the things that makes Waunakee special is how our community comes together to support local students and families,” Jeff Whipperfurth, Waunakee Piggly Wiggly store manager, said in a statement. “We’re proud that our customers chose to support this program and help create positive opportunities for students throughout the district.”
The Gift of Games is a Wisconsin nonprofit focused on helping schools, libraries, children’s hospitals and more launch sustainable board game programs.
