An international nonprofit started by a Waunakee resident, Global 1nspiration, is celebrating its second anniversary next month with a fundraising event, according to the Waunakee Tribune. It will be held at the Waunakee Public Library on March 2 from 3–7 p.m.

The organization, founded by Janette Jordee during the pandemic, works to empower underprivileged people in the Philippines, West Africa, and the U.S. It aims to educate individuals about human trafficking; help victims of human trafficking and domestic violence; help those who are physically challenged; provide donations to help individuals looking to start small businesses; offer scholarships; and more.

The anniversary event will include a buffet, karaoke, dancing, drawings, games, and prizes. Funds raised will help eradicate human trafficking and will also support the Waunakee-area community through a partnership with the Waunakee Food Pantry.

Event attendees can receive raffle tickets for donating nonperishable food items; most-needed items include ramen noodles, canned beans and vegetables, pasta and sauce, canned chicken and tuna, salt, sugar, toiletries, and feminine hygiene products.
