In the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop game lore, AI is heresy and forbidden by Imperial Law.
While Warhammer game maker Games Workshop hasn’t declared AI a heresy, Gizmodo reports that the tabletop gaming sensation has banned AI from use in the game’s development.
Warhammer, a decades-old property where players use figures to do battle in a far-flung future where humanity is on the edge of extinction, outright banned AI in any stage of the game’s design process.
Games Workshop also revealed strong sales for the gaming property.

Revenue for the six months leading up to the end of November 2025 was nearly $44 million higher compared with the same period in 2024. This takes into account an approximately $16 million hit from U.S. tariffs.
