The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) has announced that its longtime managing director, Carl Gulbrandsen, will retire in 2016, 19 years after joining the organization. WARF’s board of trustees has formed a search committee and hired a global C-Suite recruitment firm to help find a successor.

WARF is the private, nonprofit patenting and licensing organization for the University of Wisconsin.

Under Gulbrandsen’s watch, the WARF endowment has grown significantly, and the Discovery Building, Morgridge Institute for Research, Town Center, and WiCell were established. “Joining WARF and serving the university is the best professional decision I ever made,” he said in a release.
