Wall Street sluggish ahead of holiday, jobs data

Stocks stagnated Wednesday with minimal corporate news during the holiday-shortened week, the Associated Press reports. Some experts anticipate a pullback ahead of the critical June jobs report that will arrive Thursday, and the U.S. tariff deadline next week.

Futures for the S&P 500 were flat before the bell, while futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were up 0.1%, and Nasdaq futures were down the same amount.

On the corporate front, Paramount Global agreed to pay $16 million to settle a lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump over the editing of CBS’ “60 Minutes” interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris in October. The company’s shares were up 0.6% before the bell.

Benchmark U.S. crude added 88 cents to $66.33 per barrel, while Brent crude, the international standard, was up 87 cents to $67.98 per barrel.
