Wall Street shares climb amid upbeat corporate news

Markets headed toward gains Thursday, the Associated Press reports, with futures for the S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq rising 0.6%, 0.5% and 0.7%, respectively.

Door Dash jumped 9% overnight after the food delivery app outstripped Wall Street’s profit expectations and saw revenue rise 25% in the second quarter.

Drugmaker Eli Lilly fell 7% despite strong earnings. The drop came in response to a disappointing update on the results from a late-stage study of the company’s pill, orforglipron.

Airbnb shares plummeted 6% after the company beat analyst’s sales and profit expectations but issued lackluster guidance for the rest of 2025.

Language-learning app Duolingo skyrocketed 25% in off-hours trading after handily beating Wall Street’s profit expectations. The company said that its subscription revenue grew 46% over the same period last year.

In energy trading, benchmark U.S. crude added 23 cents to $64.58 per barrel. Brent crude, the international standard, ticked up 28 cents to $67.17 per barrel.
